Her Excellency Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Sheikh Ebrahim bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Center for Culture and Research, inaugurated the golden sculpture in the city of Muharraq. The event was attended by Shaikha Hala bint Mohammed Al Khalifa and media personality Sawsan Al Shaer, alongside a number of prominent cultural and social figures in Bahraini society.

This artwork is the result of a collaboration between the Sheikh Ebrahim Center for Culture and Research, Bahrain Gallery, and the Portuguese artist Miguel Rodrigues. The sculpture represents a contemporary artistic piece inspired by the form of gold leaf, with its radiant golden color, and has been installed on the wall of Bayt Nuzul Qabila, opposite Bayt Al Kurar in the city of Muharraq.

The concept of the sculpture is closely linked to the rich heritage of Bayt Al Kurar, known for its traditional craft of gold thread making. The artwork reinterprets this artisanal history through a contemporary aesthetic language, creating a visual dialogue between cultural memory and modern artistic expression, reflecting the deep cultural presence of Muharraq and its historic alleys.

The folds of the golden sculpture give the piece a dynamic visual presence, where the metallic form appears suspended in a continuous moment of transformation between solidity and fluidity. Despite its material rigidity, the surface takes on the appearance of flowing fabric, its folds captured in a fleeting moment in time—creating a striking visual tension between the strength of metal and the softness of form.

As light reflects across the overlapping folds, a luminous movement emerges, adding a dynamic dimension to the work. It seems to breathe with changing light and the movement of its surroundings, embodying a balanced dialogue between mass and void, stillness and motion at once.
